Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. I have tried this approach many many times and no success. The failure seems to occur at the very last step when the "Call" set up on the YourPhone app on the computer is trying to access the phone by Bluetooth. That connection does happen successfully I get a notice in the Windows Action center, I get a notice on my phone, but the YourPhone app is reporting a non-specific error message that says it could not finish connecting.
All other bits of the phone are present, picture, text messages and notifications. For a second I thought I had the problem corrected since, once booting the YourPhone App on the compter a keypad briefly flashes but then it reverts back to the error message. Still think that the problem is Bluetooth related.
The phone is recognizing requests from the computer and their is pairing. But the "call" function attempts to re-establish the connection. I followed the steps you listed but did not rename my devices. The dialpad is still not visible on PC. I'll test again and it may be several times as you state you have done but will do so in hopes that the dialpad begins to show on the PC Your Phone App. All went well throughout the installation process.
My only complaint is the Dialpad no longer shows on PC App. The logic was impeccable, the outcome In fact, much like SmittyChat below, I lost the call functionality entirely. I do not even see the call function on the menu or the dialpad any longer. This is pretty maddening. So just to wrap this up. Still no connection for calls - but I can do everything else: message, notifications, photos.
But there is one last item. The message reads "We're checking one more thing on your PC before we ask final permission". This will send the final permission to your phone. Nor do I see the dialpad or any menu item stating that I can in fact make a call.
Agree totally with JustRayinWI. It is an extremely picky setup and I spent a good hours on it. I did not have the call option, just photos, texts, and notifications. I think it also makes a difference if you start the Bluetooth connection from the PC or phone or if you just start up the app on the PC and follow the prompts.
I think I tried all possible permutations and one time the call option just magically appeared. Thanks to everyone. The problem is Bluetooth. But it is inscrutable. The phone says that I am connected and identifies the computer. Microsoft has a utility to fix Bluetooth but when I run the application, it simply turns on the radio. But the radio and the connection, it seems, are not persistent as per Action Center.
I have reinstalled the Bluetooth drivers but no go. I've double checked everything and all connections are good from phone to pc but apparently Skype is going to be preferred for phone calls not this app. I've reported the issue using Feedback on both pc and phone. Suggest that everyone do the same. Something I did notice is Mobile Data has to be turned on to sync.
